Watch Obama Accept the Presidential Nomination - Free Tickets at the State Theatre

 On Thursday, August 28th, Senator Barack Obama will officially accept the Democratic Nomination for President of the United States. Please join area Democrats as we share this historic event at the State Theatre.Hi Dems!  Come to our Convention Party Night at the State Theatre on Thursday, August 28, at 8 pm. Doors will open about 7:30 pm.  Tickets are free!.  As Michael Moore wrote in his weekly message yesterday:"When your name is "The State," election season is a big deal. So next week we're kicking off a ten-week celebration of the American Way on film and video. Most of us can't go to Denver or St. Paul for the party conventions, so we're bringing the excitement of this historic election year right to the State Theatre. "Convention Party Night at the State" begins next Thursday, August 28, at 8:00 p.m., when we will beam in to the big screen at the State Theatre, live via satellite, the acceptance speech of Barack Obama, direct from Mile High Stadium in Denver. Democratic Party representatives will be present to greet you. Here's your chance to sign up and get involved while catching the excitement of seeing Barack Obama accept his party's nomination to the Presidency of the United States.   "And then, one week later, on September 4, the Grand Old Party takes over the State as we beam in live from St. Paul, Minnesota, the acceptance speech of Senator John McCain! The fun begins at 8:00 p.m. with Republican Party representatives. You'll have a chance to sign up and join the McCain army on its march to November 4."Local Greens will get their night, too, this fall. The State is for everyone, and everyone is welcome. Bring the kids, bring your friends, and share the moment in TC's virtual town square, the State Theatre. When I talked with Michael late this afternoon, he described the fun!  The theater will be set up as a convention, with placards on sticks for each county so that we will be seated with our counties.  A Master of Ceremonies will lead the fun.ALL Candidates may speak!  3-5 minutes only, please!!Bring your buttons, bumper stickers, shirts, yard signs: You may offer them for the appropriate donation. I suspect that there will be quite a line waiting to get in -- the GT Dems will offer our shirts on the street.I hear that Antrim County Dems are renting buses to bring their folks into TC.
